Duties and Responsibilities
  1. 1. Teach assigned courses in the Discipline.
  2. 2. Maintain minimum of one office hour per week for each course taught.
  3. 3. Prepare course syllabus and reports related to teaching and student progress.
  4. 4. Work under supervision of department chairperson in integrating teaching efforts with other instructors in the discipline area.
  5. 5. Duties and responsibilities may include work with multi-media presentations and distance education instruction.
Minimum Qualifications
  1. 1. As listed below. All minimum qualifications must be from institutions accredited by recognized US accrediting agencies and met by the effective date of appointment. HAWAIIAN LANGUAGE: Functionally native oral and written fluency in Hawaiian, the ability to communicate in English, and one of the following: (a) Master’s in Hawaiian (language or literature); or (b) Master’s in Hawaiian as a Second Language; or (c) Master’s in the study of the culture or history of the people who speak Hawaiian; or (d) Master’s in Linguistics, ESL, Education or another language. At least 12 credits of advanced coursework in second language methodology, Hawaiian literature, Hawaiian culture, or any combination thereof; or (e) Bachelor’s in Hawaiian (language or literature), and three (3) years related work experience; or (f) Bachelors in Hawaiian as a Second Language, and three (3) years related work experience; or (g) Bachelor’s in the study of the culture or history of the people who speak Hawaiian, and three (3) years related work experience; or (h) Bachelor’s in Linguistics, ESL, Education or another language. At least 12 credits of advanced coursework in second language methodology, Hawaiian literature, Hawaiian culture, or any combination thereof, and three (3) years related work experience.
Desirable Qualifications
  1. 1. Teaching experience at community college level.
  2. 2. Demonstrated ability to work with adult learners.
  3. 3. Familiarity with competency-based instruction and behavioral objectives.
  4. 4. Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively.
  5. 5. Experience in curriculum development.
