  • General or Special funds, contingent upon position clearance, department needs, and fund availability. Appointment to begin August 2019. Selectee is required to complete the COE New Faculty orientation in the first year, Title IX training, and pass a criminal background check.
Duties and Responsibilities
  1. Teach undergraduate and/or graduate courses via on campus and/or a variety of distance delivery modes;
  2. Supervise candidates' field activities in field-based teacher preparation programs;
  3. Serve as cohort coordinator for candidates in teacher training programs;
  4. Advise students;
  5. Maintain active program of research/scholarly activity and publications in area of specialization;
  6. Provide service to the department, college, university, public schools, and professional community;
  7. Participate in program review, program assessment, and accreditation activities;
  8. Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
  1. Doctorate in special education or closely related field from an accredited institution; will consider ABD if completed by date of hire.
  2. Scholarly expertise in early literacy assessment and/or instruction.
  3. Teaching experience as a licensed special educator with Pre-K or elementary-level students with mild/moderate disabilities.
  4. Any equivalent combination of education and/or professional work experience which provides the required education, knowledge, skills, and abilities as indicated.
Desirable Qualifications
  1. Experience in early literacy instruction for students with mild/moderate disabilities.
  2. Broad knowledge of Pre-K through elementary-level special education for students with mild/moderate disabilities.
  3. Experience in teaching special education teacher candidates in higher education.
  4. Experience in field supervision of special education teacher candidates in special education.
  5. Evidence of scholarly research activity.
