  • Fall and Spring Semester; Summer Sessions. Part-time Lecturer applicant pool. Non-tenure, pending availability of funds and actual staffing requirements. Evening, weekend and or distance offerings for UH Maui College and or Outreach sites (Lahaina, Hana, Lana`i, Moloka`i) may be assigned as part of regular workload.
Duties and Responsibilities
  1. Teach assigned courses in the discipline qualified for.
  2. Maintain minimum of one office hour per week for each course taught.
  3. Prepare course syllabi, grading and reports related to teaching and student progress
  4. Work under supervision of discipline coordinator/division chairperson in integrating teaching efforts with other instructors in the discipline area.
  5. May include instructional assignments involving distance education.
Minimum Qualifications
  1. Nurse’s Aide - Bachelor's in Science in Nursing AND At least two years of nursing experience, with at least one year in the provision of long-term care facility services. Must have completed a course in teaching adults or have experience in teaching adults or supervising nurse’s aides. AND RN eligible for Hawai‘i State License. License required by effective date of employment. OR Associate Degree in Nursing AND At least two years of nursing experience with at least one year in the provision of long-term care facility services. Must have completed a course in teaching adults or have experience in teaching adults or supervising nurse’s aides. AND RN eligible for Hawai‘i State License. License required by effective date of employment. OR Diploma in Nursing AND At least two years of nursing experience with at least one year in the provision of long-term care facility services. Must have completed a course in teaching adults or have experience in teaching adults or supervising nurse’s aides. AND RN eligible for Hawai‘i State License. License required by effective date of employment.
  2. Practical Nursing - BSN AND At least three years of hospital experience in one of the areas of teaching responsibility. Preferably this experience will have been gained within the last five years of date of application. AND RN eligible for Hawai‘i State License. License required by effective date of employment. OR MSN AND At least one year of hospital experience in one of the areas of teaching responsibility. Preferably this experience will have been gained within the last five years of date of application. AND RN eligible for Hawai‘i State License. License required by effective date of employment.
  3. Registered Nurse - MSN AND At least one year of hospital experience in one of the areas of teaching responsibility. Preferably this experience will have been gained within the last five years of date of application. AND RN eligible for Hawai‘i State License. License required by effective date of employment.
  4. All minimum qualifications must be from an accredited institution and met by the effective date of appointment. If qualified applicants are not available, those not meeting the minimum qualifications may be considered on an exception basis.
Desirable Qualifications
  1. Successful community college and or university teaching experience in the field
  2. Demonstrated ability to work with diverse student populations
  3. Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively
  4. Ability to use writing assignments and integrate teaching of appropriate thinking skills in to course content as an integral part of student's classroom learning activities
