- The UH System is seeking one graduate assistants to assist the PI, faculty, and staff in program management, evaluation and data collection, and coordination of extramural project activities from the U.S. Department of Education Native Hawaiian Education Program and the State of Hawaii – Office of Hawaiian Affairs. The aims of the projects are to support, investigate, and increase the numbers of Native Hawaiian undergraduate students enrolling and completing degrees in Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics (STEM) and secondary education at all ten University of Hawaii campuses. Under general supervision of the UH System Office of STEM Education, the graduate assistant will be expected to:
- •Collaborate with faculty, staff, and students to monitor and track program progress;
- •Conduct and/or coordinate outreach and workshop events for future and current undergraduate students;
- •Collect, compile, and analyze project data and prepare evaluation reports as needed;
- •Prepare and present results at public venues, conferences, and team meetings;
- •Support and assist with Office of STEM Education college access events;
- •Inter-island and U.S. continent travel as necessary;
- •Other duties as assigned.
- Full-time, classified graduate student in education, social sciences, STEM, or related discipline in a Masters or PhD program under University of Hawaii Manoa, Office of Graduate Education ;
- Ability to clearly communicate in English, including reading, writing, and speaking;
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team with strong organizational skills;
- Must meet Graduate Assistant eligibility requirements of the UH Manoa Office of Graduate Education.
- Knowledge and/or experience working with applicable federal and state laws, university policy, rules, regulations, theories and systems associated with academic research, analyses, data governance, and individual/educational confidentiality and privacy;
- Familiarity working with Native Hawaiian, indigenous, and underrepresented students;
- Familiarity working with University of Hawaii students at the community college and four-year campus level;
