Duties and Responsibilities
  1. Provides case management including career assessment, transferable skills assessment, employment & training plan development, job development, and referrals (as needed) under the direction of the Career & Job Placement Coordinator.
  2. Facilitate career exploration and job readiness workshops.
  3. Maintain and document all necessary student files to assure up-to-date and accurate student placement and career exploration record keeping.
  4. Assist supervisor in the completion of annual statistics of career explorartion, placement and completion reports.
  5. Sets up and supports the “Job Center Online” (JCO) commercial software product from the vendor Career Services Online (CSO) for the purpose of managing job postings and assisting KCC students in finding employment.
  6. Serves as the college’s official liaison to the CSO vendor or other technology software used for career exploration & job placement.
  7. Works with employers, students, and faculty in utilizing the JCO or other technology software used for career exploration & job placement.
  8. Provides support services to faculty in the areas of career exploration, labor market information, job skills, job development, and job placement.
  9. Plans, organizes, and independently carries out assignments.
  10. Serves as liaison between campus and external stakeholders, including business leaders and industry advisors through such entities as the Public/Private Working Groups (PPWG).
  11. Supports the implementation of online video of job placement resources, targeting stakeholders, including but not limited to, students, faculty, staff, and employers.
  12. Develops and maintains an approved program of professional self-improvement with guidance from the Career & Job Placement Coordinator.
  13. Work effectively with others to provide service to the department, college, and industry.
  14. Other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications
  1. Possession of a baccalaureate degree in Counseling/Guidance, College Student Personnel, Counseling Psych, Human Resources, Communications or related field and 1 year(s) of progressively responsible professional experience with responsibilities for career exploration and/or job placement; or equivalent education/training or experience.
  2. Functional knowledge of principles, practices and techniques in career exploration and/or job placement demonstrated by knowledge, understanding and ability to apply concepts, terminology.
  3. Functional knowledge and understanding of principles, theories, federal and state laws, rules, regulations and systems associated with career exploration and/or job placement.
  4. Demonstrated ability to recognize problems, identify possible causes and resolve the full range problems that may commonly occur in the career exploration and/or job placement.
  5. Demonstrated ability to understand oral and written documentation, write reports and procedures, and communicate effectively in a variety of situations.
  6. Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external organizations, groups, team members and individuals.
  7. Demonstrated ability to operate a personal computer and apply word processing software.
  8. Any equivalent combination of education and/or professional work experience which provides the required education, knowledge, skills and abilities as indicated.
Desirable Qualifications
  1. Functional knowledge of principles, practices, and techniques in event planning and/or program management demonstrated by knowledge, understanding, and ability to apply concepts, terminology.
  2. Demonstrated ability to recognize problems, identify possible causes, and resolve the full range problems that may commonly occur in working with secondary and postsecondary students.
