Duties and Responsibilities
  1. Direct and teach with a focus on a program designed to assist a selected cohort of law students to succeed in law school. The Ulu Lehua Program, first established in 1978, supports law students who show a commitment to public service and social justice within legally underserved and economically disadvantaged communities and who demonstrate promise and likelihood of success in law school, which may be inadequately reflected by numerical admissions indicators, such as the LSAT score and/or undergraduate grade point average. The program fosters law school success through individualized, group, and peer mentoring, instruction, and support.
Assistant Professor Minimum Qualifications
  1. J.D. Degree or equivalent; demonstration of promise of excellence in teaching, scholarship, and community service. At least 2 years of experience in tutoring, counseling, mentoring, or providing academic support in a law school or comparable setting and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituents within the diverse law school community.
Associate Professor Minimum Qualifications
  1. Same as Assistant, plus five years of experience at assistant level or equivalent with record of significant scholarly achievement.
Professor Minimum Qualifications
  1. Same as Associate, plus three years at associate level or equivalent with evidence of a mature level of performance and achievement as a teacher and scholar that places the faculty member at the forefront of the relevant field(s).
Desirable Qualifications
  1. Teaching or practice experience in a multi-cultural context. Experience with curriculum design, including an understanding of educational learning theory, best practices in teaching pedagogy, and individual learning styles preferred.
