  • Fall 2017, part-time, for lecturer applicant pool. Non-tenurial, pending availability of funds, and actual staffing requirements. May be for Leeward CC day, evening, or weekend offerings on- and off-campus. This includes the Waianae campus.
Duties and Responsibilities
  1. Teach assigned courses in the discipline.
  2. Maintain minimum of one office hour per week for each course taught.
  3. Prepare course syllabus and reports related to teaching and student progress.
  4. Work under supervision of discipline coordinator/division chairperson in integrating teaching efforts with other instructors in the discipline area.
  5. May include instructional assignments involving distance education.
Minimum Qualifications
  1. As listed below. All minimum qualifications must be from a regionally accredited institution and met by the effective date of appointment. If qualified applicants are not available, those not meeting the minimum qualifications may be considered on an exception basis.
  2. ACCOUNTING: (a) Master’s in Accounting (MAcc); OR (b) MBA including 18 credits in Accounting (undergraduate and/or graduate - 300 level or higher); OR (c) Bachelor’s in Accounting and 3 years (within the last 5 years) of related work experience in accounting; or (d) Bachelor's in related fields such as Business Administration (in areas other than Accounting) including 18 credits Accounting (undergraduate and/or graduate - 300 level or higher) and 5 years (within the last 5 years) of related work experience in accounting; or (e) Bachelor's in any field and CPA/CMA or equivalent professional accounting certification (in the USA).
  3. BUSINESS TECHNOLOGY: (a) Master’s degree in Business Education; OR (b) Master’s degree in a Business related field (Business Administration, Management, Accounting, Information Technology, Finance, or any other similar business degree) with a minimum of 18 credits in Business Technology or Administrative Support courses (UHCC BUSN alpha courses or similar); OR (c) Bachelor’s degree in Business Education and 3 years (within the last 5 years) of related work experience; OR (d) Bachelor’s degree in Business related field (Business Administration, Management, Accounting, Information Technology, Finance, or any other similar business degree) with a minimum of 18 credits in Business Technology or Administrative Support courses (UHCC BUSN alpha courses or similar) and 3 years (within the last 5 years) of related work experience; OR (e) Bachelor’s degree in any field and 5 years (within the last 5 years) of related work experience. Related work experience includes skills taught in Business Technology Programs, e.g. records management following industry-approved Association for Records Managers and Administrators (ARMA) procedures, document formatting, etc.; and/or secondary or postsecondary Business Education teaching experience.
  4. HEALTH INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY: (a) Master’s in any field and Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) or Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT); OR (b) Bachelor’s in any field and 3 years of related work experience and Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) or Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT); OR (c) Associate’s in any field and 5 years of related work experience and Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT). To teach HIT 106, 108, 109, 208, 209: Which are coding specific classes – Bachelor’s in any field and Certified Coding Specialist (CCS). To teach HIT 197C: Disease Pathology and Pharm: Registered Nurse (RN) AND Bachelor in Science Nursing (BSN). To teach HIT 171 (Health Data, Information, Law, and Ethics), a privacy credential (CHP, CHPS, or CIPP) with a Bachelor’s in any field or graduate degree in any field.
  5. MANAGEMENT: (a) Master’s in Business Administration; OR (b) Bachelor’s in Business Administration and 3 years of related work experience.
Desirable Qualifications
  1. Teaching experience at a community college level.
  2. Demonstrated ability to work with adult learners and communicate clearly.
  3. Familiarity with competency-based instruction and behavioral objectives.
