Part-time, Minimum: $1,525 per credit hour or as noted in the CBA.

  • Applicants for this part-time position shall reside on the island they are applying for - Maui, Lanai, Molokai, Kauai and/or Hawaii Island. Field Supervision work needed on Maui, Lanai, Molokai, Kauai and/or Hawaii Island. Position subject to availability of funds, student enrollment, and staffing requirements; for lecturer candidate pool. If selected appointment to begin January 2018 or later. Selectee is required to complete the COE New Faculty orientation in the first year and pass a criminal background check and Title IX training.
Duties and Responsibilities
  1. Coordinate field placements with principals and teachers;
  2. Supervise, mentor and evaluate students in field-based settings in elementary classrooms;
  3. Conduct field experience seminars and student teaching seminars;
  4. Evaluate candidates’ lesson plans and field-based program assignments;
  5. Conduct midterm and end-of-semester conferences;
  6. Participate in collaborative relationships with mentor teachers, school administrators, and staff;
  7. Provide service to the department, university and broader community.
Minimum Qualifications
  1. Earned master’s degree in Elementary Education, or equivalent combination of graduate education and experience;
  2. Working knowledge of national content standards, Hawaii Content and Performance Standards III, InTASC Standards, and Common Core Standards;
  3. Two years full-time K-6 classroom teaching experience, as teacher of record;
  4. Experience working with diverse/multicultural populations.
Desirable Qualifications
  1. Successful post-secondary teaching experience;
  2. Experience working with native Hawaiian populations;
  3. Experience teaching on-line courses;
  4. Experience with school/university partnerships;
  5. Experience mentoring students in field settings;
  6. Experience in field-based, standards-based teacher education;
  7. Experience working with special education students and/or multilingual learners.
