  • Part-time, non-tenure track, for placement in Spring, Summer and/or Fall lecturer pool, assignments as needed, contingent on availability of funds and actual staffing requirements for East and West Hawai`i campuses.
Duties and Responsibilities
  1. Under general supervision, conduct lecturer and as appropriate, laboratory courses in the discipline.
  2. May include instructional assignment involving distance education.
  3. Maintain at least one office hour per week for each class taught.
  4. Possible evening, weekend and off-campus assignments.
  5. Conduct student evaluations of teaching effectiveness.
  6. Participate in assessment of course learning outcomes.
  7. Adhere to all due dates, including the online submission of grades.
Minimum Qualifications
  1. CULINARY ARTS: (a) Bachelor’s degree in Culinary Arts and 3 years of related work experience which may include professional training; OR (b) Associate Degree in Culinary Arts and 5 years of related work experience which may include professional training; OR (c) 15 college credits and 7 years of related work experience which may include professional training; OR (d) Master recognition by Food Services Community and 10 years related work experience.
  2. HOSPITALITY AND TOURISM (HOST): (a) Master’s in hospitality, travel, or tourism (credentials and coursework must be appropriate to the teaching assignment/position); OR (b) MBA (credentials and coursework must be appropriate to the teaching assignment/position) and 2 years of related work experience; OR (c) Bachelor’s in hospitality, travel or tourism (credentials and coursework must be appropriate to the teaching assignment/position) and 3 years of related work experience; OR (d) Bachelor’s degree in any field (credentials and coursework must be appropriate to the teaching assignment/position) and 5 years of related work experience; OR (e) Associate Degree in hospitality, travel, or tourism (credentials and coursework must be appropriate to the teaching assignment/position) and 5 years of related work experience; OR (f) 15 college credits in hospitality, travel or tourism (credentials and coursework must be appropriate to the teaching assignment/position) and 7 years of related work experience at supervisory/managerial level; OR (g) Master recognition by hospitality, travel, or tourism (credentials and coursework must be appropriate to the teaching assignment/position) and 10 years of related work experience at supervisory/managerial level.
