Duties and Responsibilities
  1. Under general supervision, conduct classes in subject fields (as listed above) using methods that:
  2. (a) result in student attainment of learning outcomes;
  3. (b) address the learning needs of the college’s diverse students;
  4. (c) integrate thinking and writing skills onto course content, as appropriate;
  5. (d) use multimedia resources, including computers, where appropriate;
  6. (e) maintain a minimum of one office hour per week for each three-credit course taught in a 16-week semester schedule;
  7. (f) student and peer evaluations and self-assessment of teaching effectiveness are required;
  8. (g) classes may be offered in the evenings and on weekends or may involve distance education.
Minimum Qualifications
  1. ACCOUNTING (transfer and non-transfer courses); (a) Master’s degree in Accounting; or (b) MBA including 18 credits in Accounting (graduate or undergraduate); or (c) Bachelor’s degree and 3 years related work experience in accounting. Experience must be within the last 5 years.
  2. BUSINESS LAW: (a) Master’s in Business Administration or Master’s in Accountancy with coursework in Business Law; or (b) Law Degree.
  3. INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY/INFORMATION AND COMPUTER SCIENCE: (a) Master’s in Information and Computer Sciences (ICS); or (b) Master’s in Business with coursework in business computer applications; or (c) Master’s in Education Technology with coursework in computer applications; or (d) Bachelor’s in Information and Computer Sciences (ICS) and 3 years related work experience. Experience must be within the last 5 years; or (e) Bachelor’s in Business with coursework in business computer applications and 3 years related work experience. Experience must be within the last 5 years. or (f) Bachelor’s in any field and 5 years related work experience including training. Experience must be within the last 5 years; or (g) associate Degree in Business with some coursework in business computer applications and 5 years related work experience including training. Experience must be within the last 5 years; or (h) 15 college credits in business with some coursework in business computer applications and 7 years related work experience including training. Experience must be within the last 5 years; or (i) Master recognition by business community in computer applications and 10 years related work experience including training. Experience must be within the last 5 years.
  4. LAW (Paralegal/Legal Secretary): (a) law degree and experience working with or as a paralegal and member in good standing of the Hawaii State Bar; or (b) Bachelor’s degree in paralegal and 3 years of related work experience;or (c) Bachelor’s degree (in any area) and 3 years of related work experience, and recognized post baccalaureate paralegal certificate; or (d) Bachelor’s degree (in any area) and 5 years of related work experience.
  5. MARKETING: (a) Master’s in Business Administration (MBA); or (b) Bachelor’s in Business Administration (BBA) and 3 years of related work experience. Experience must be within the last 5 years.
Desirable Qualifications
  1. Successful community college teaching in terms of student-learning outcomes.
  2. Experience in integrating writing, technology, and thinking skills into teaching.
