Assistant Professor Duties and Responsibilities
  1. To teach assigned undergraduate and graduate-level courses;
  2. To develop an extramurally funded research program;
  3. To conduct and publish research work in leading scholarly journals as a record of scholarly activity;
  4. To serve as chair or member of committees in charge of candidates for advanced degrees;
  5. To participate in curriculum development activities including the development of curricular materials and special instructional methods;
  6. To supervise independent study activities;
  7. To serve as academic advisor to students;
  8. To serve on departmental, college, and university committees;
  9. To render service to the professional or lay community which is relevant to the individual's academic specialty, and;
  10. To perform related tasks as assigned.
Associate Professor Duties and Responsibilities
  1. In addition to assistant professor duties and responsibilities, to serve as chair on departmental, college, and university committees, and;
  2. To serve as department chair when selected.
Assistant Professor Minimum Qualifications
  1. A doctorate from a college or university of recognized standing and in Electrical Engineering or related field by the start date of the position (All-but-dissertation (ABD) cases will be considered, but Dissertation must be filed by start of employment. Appointment of an ABD applicant will be made on an “acting” basis until the degree is conferred) and ;
  2. Demonstrated ability as a teacher;
  3. Demonstrated scholarly achievement;
  4. Poise and good address for meeting and conferring with others
Associate Professor Minimum Qualifications
  1. A doctorate from a college or university of recognized standing and Electrical Engineering or related field;
  2. Evidence of proficiency in teaching;
  3. Minimum of four years of full- time college or university teaching at the rank of assistant professor or equivalent, with evidence of increasing professional maturity;
  4. Scholarly achievement judged competent and adequate for the rank in comparison with peers active in the same field at major research universities;
  5. Continued evidence of participation in the scholarly and academic affairs of a university or other appropriate organization, or in an appropriate professional society or organization, or in other appropriate job-related service activities;
  6. Demonstrated ability to plan and organize assigned activities, including the supervision of work of assistants when appropriate;
  7. Ability to serve as a role model for students and junior colleagues; poise and good address for meeting and conferring with others.
Assistant Professor Desirable Qualifications
  1. Research focused in the following thrust areas: nano/biotechnology, renewable energy, cyber/grid security, machine learning, or systems including big data, computer vision, signal processing, control, and optimization. Quality of research thus far is an important consideration.
Associate Professor Desirable Qualifications
  1. In addition to Assistant Professor Desirable Qualifications: Demonstrated record of securing and managing external funding.
