- This position will be available to fill on August 1, 2016, subject to position clearance and availability of funding.
- The Department of Ocean and Resources Engineering (ORE) of the School of Ocean and Earth Science and Technology (SOEST) at the University of Hawaii at Manoa invites applications for a full-time tenure-track faculty position at the rank of assistant or associate professor. ORE is a graduate department offering MS and PhD degrees with a strong commitment to teaching and mentoring graduate students, conducting extramurally funded research, and publishing scholarly materials. The ABET-accredited academic program includes coastal engineering, offshore engineering, and ocean resources engineering. Additional information can be found at: http://www.ore.hawaii.edu/
- The successful candidate is expected to teach graduate and undergraduate courses, mentor graduate students and postdoctoral researchers, develop and conduct extramurally funded research projects, publish research in peer reviewed journals and in other forms as appropriate, and participate in departmental, university and professional activities.
- PhD degree in Ocean Engineering or a closely related discipline received no later than June 30, 2016.
- Demonstrated ability as a teacher and student mentor
- Demonstrated capacity for high-quality research
- Excellent communication skills
- In addition to the minimum qualifications stated above, applicants must also have four years of experience at the rank of assistant professor or equivalent and a research record commensurate with the rank.
